Everything for your carefree stay in Hotel Diery, Terchová and the surrounding area

Are you coming to visit us and are you interested in details about accommodation, dining in the restaurant, or services for families with children? We have summarised the answers to your most important questions in one place.

1. Accommodation and practical information

When is check-in possible and by when must the room be vacated (check-out)?

Standard check-in time is from 2:00 PM. Rooms must be vacated by 10:00 AM on the day of departure. If you plan an early hike on your departure day, or if you arrive earlier than scheduled, we will be happy to safely store your luggage at reception.

Are breakfast and lunch included in the room rate?

Yes, we serve an exclusive buffet breakfast for all our guests, which is fully included in the accommodation price.

We are a family with young children. Do you offer cots?

Certainly, we can arrange a cot for your little ones. Please indicate this request in the notes section when booking.

We are dog walkers, can we bring our pet with us?

Your four-legged friend is welcome here! Staying with a dog is possible (a small cleaning fee may apply). We just ask that you report your dog in advance when making a reservation.

Do you have secure parking for guests at the hotel?

Yes, directly in front of the hotel, we have a car park behind barriers and monitored by cameras. Parking here is guaranteed free of charge for the entire duration of your stay.

2. Restaurant (Terchovská koliba Diery)

I have specific dietary restrictions (coeliac disease, lactose intolerance, vegan). Can you find anything for me on your menu?

Certainly yes! Our cuisine is flexible and we are happy to prepare many of the traditional and modern dishes from our menu in gluten-free, lactose-free, or vegan options. Simply inform the waiting staff of this request.

Do you offer any restaurant discounts to hotel guests?

Yes! One of the biggest benefits of staying at Hotel Diery is an exclusive discount on the entire menu at our restaurant, which you can enjoy throughout your stay. The minimum discount is 10%; if you are a member of our loyalty scheme, you can also enjoy even greater discounts.

Is it possible for us to organise a family celebration, christening or company party?

Yes, it is possible. We handle every request individually, ideally with a personal meeting on-site.

Do you have anything for children in the restaurant?

Of course. There is a children's corner directly in the restaurant. You can sit at one of the tables near the entrance to the corner, eat in peace, and keep your children under control at all times.

Are you open to non-residents as well?

Our Terchovská koliba Diery is open to the general public, not just hotel guests. We are happy to welcome any tourist or traveller who fancies authentic Slovak cuisine.

3. Wellness Centre

Is it necessary to book your entry to the wellness centre in advance?

Yes, to maintain maximum privacy and tranquillity, our wellness centre has a limited capacity (a maximum of 10 people). Therefore, entry must be booked in advance directly at the hotel reception.

Are sheets and towels available at the wellness centre, or do I need to bring my own from the room?

You do not need to bring anything of your own. Upon entering the wellness area, we will gladly provide you with clean sheets and towels.

Is entry to the wellness area permitted for children as well?

Yes, we are happy to welcome families with children. However, children are only permitted entry when accompanied by an adult and only until 6:00 PM, to avoid disrupting the evening relaxation routine of our adult guests.

Do you also offer massages?

Our wellness centre offers a wide range of massages. Furthermore, our guests receive a 20% discount on all massages. Massages must be booked in advance.

What types of saunas are available in your wellness centre?

For perfect relaxation, you will find a classic Finnish sauna (with higher temperature and low humidity), a steam sauna (ideal for the respiratory tract), and an infrared sauna (excellent for relieving muscle tension after a strenuous hike).

4. Jánošík's Gaps

How far from the hotel is the start of the route to Jánošík's Holes?

The answer is simple: zero metres! Our hotel is literally situated at the crossroads right by the only official entrance to Jánošík's Holes. You don't need to travel anywhere by car.

Is the passage through Jánošík's Holes subject to a charge?

No, there is no admission fee for entering Jánošík's Holes; you can visit them completely free of charge.

Are the routes in the Caves also suitable for families with young children?

Dolné diery and Nové diery are not difficult and can be managed even by younger children (from approx. 4-5 years old). However, there are ladders and footbridges along the route. Horné diery are significantly more challenging, with many long and steep ladders, and we recommend them more for older children and adults with hiking experience.

Can you go through Jánošíkove diery with a dog?

If your dog can walk on metal and wooden ladders (of which there are many in the Holes), you will manage the crossing. For smaller breeds, we recommend taking a special carrier or backpack with you, as their paws can get stuck in the slatted walkways. In the Upper Holes, it is almost impossible for a dog without a carrier due to the number of ladders.

Are Jánošík's Holes accessible all year round, even in winter?

Dolné and Nové diery are beautiful and accessible all year round (in winter, spectacular icefalls form here). The passage through Horné diery is significantly dangerous during the winter months and after heavy rainfall, and is often closed by the Mountain Service due to impassability.

5. Terchová and the surrounding area

What can be done in Terchová in case of bad weather?

In addition to spending the whole day relaxing in our wellness centre, or using our common room with billiards, a children's corner and gaming consoles, you can visit the Juraj Jánošík exhibition in the local museum, or admire the beautiful wooden nativity scene in the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius right in the centre of the village. Is public transport and a bus stop available near the hotel?

Yes, there is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel going towards Zázrivá, and approximately 150 metres from the hotel there is a stop going towards the village.

Where can I find the famous statue of Juraj Jánošík and the viewing tower?

The majestic statue of Juraj Jánošík stands on Vŕšky hill directly above the centre of Terchová. Not far from it is also the Terchovské srdce observation tower, which offers a beautiful panoramic view of the entire village. Both monuments are only a few minutes away from our hotel by car, or you can reach them with a beautiful walk in about 20-25 minutes.

How can I book a trip directly from the hotel?

If you want to take a break from walking, you can hop on the well-known Terchová mini-train right in front of our hotel. This tourist train will take you through the most beautiful corners of Terchová and Vrátna Valley – it's an excellent experience, especially for families with children.

Is it possible to ski in Terchová?

Just a few minutes' drive from the hotel is one of the best ski resorts in Slovakia – Vrátna Malá Fatra (Paseky, Poludňový Grúň, and Chleb resorts). Skiing here offers slopes suitable for both beginners and freeriders.

6. Corporate Events and Group Stays (Team Building)

Can we hold a corporate teambuilding event or training session with you?

Yes, Hotel Diery is ideally suited for corporate events for small and medium-sized groups. Our location on the edge of Jánošík's Holes offers a perfect combination of a business programme with mountain leisure and hiking.

Do you have a training room and equipment?

The hotel includes a fully equipped common room and a lounge, which also features a large oval screen for presentations. Fast and stable Wi-Fi is naturally available.

Do you also provide catering for groups?

Certainly yes. Directly at our Terchová Koliba Diery, or at the Besiedka buffet, we will gladly arrange complete catering for you, from morning coffee breaks to lunches and celebratory dinners – all with regard to your requirements (including live performances by Terchová music, or other additional programmes).

Can you help us with organising team-building activities and the accompanying programme?

In addition to top-class facilities for your training, we are happy to advise you on an outdoor programme thanks to our unique location. The perfect team building can include a joint hike through Jánošíkovy diery, a climb up Rozsutec, but we also cooperate with external companies that have a diverse range of activities.

What is your maximum capacity and is it possible to book the entire hotel exclusively for our company?

Our hotel is an ideal retreat, especially for small to medium-sized corporate teams (30 to 50 people). If you're interested and book well in advance (preferably outside our peak tourist season), it's possible to reserve the entire hotel accommodation exclusively for your company upon agreement, ensuring absolute privacy.
